IPod Remotes and Other Electronic Accessories

When Abraham Lincoln was trudging miles through the snowy Illinois winter to go to school, remote controls were not anywhere on the radar screen in his active brain. He certainly was not listening to his iPod on his long walks, nor could he call his mother on his iPhone to tell her he would be late in case he got slowed down on his trek or had to stay after school.
Needless to say, remote controls, iPods, and iPhones are important parts of fast-paced life in the 21st century, but of course they were not always around. Zenith marketed the first television remote in 1950. But it wasn't wireless: a wire connected the remote, called Lazy Bones, to the television. The first wireless remote came on the scene about six years later, but it was limited in what it could control. It wasn't until the late 1970s that engineers developed a multi-function wireless remote for television. It could change channels, raise or lower the sound, focus the picture, and of course turn the set on and off. The Consumer Electronics Association estimates the average American home now has four remote controls, even more if they have a home theatre. Wireless remote controls regulate fans, lights, air conditioners, and iPods and iPhones-to name just a few of the convenient applications.
Early remote controls worked only over short distances and in the absence of physical barriers such as walls. Now consumers can connect their iPods and iPhones from another floor, from outside, or from their cars or motorcycles. The device can be in a backpack, a tote bag, a glove compartment or a locker and still be controlled by a remote. It's a cinch to control iTunes, Music Matchbox, and other computer music players. Talking about iPhones, iPods, and other electronics with touch screens...they do get dirty and scratched. An invisible shield provides a super-thin film that is clear and indestructible. It's a great way to protect screens and keep them looking sharp. A cell phone case provides even greater protection, especially for active people.
Just like today's consumers cannot picture the inventions of the future, Abe could not have imagined the electronic accessories that most people use every day. Mobile antennas improve reception, chargers make it possible to charge a cellular phone from a PC, and belt holsters keep phones handy. Ear buds and headsets are essential yet cheap cell phone accessories. Hands-free headsets are gaining popularity as evidence of the dangers of driving and holding a cell phone mount.
Some accessories for electronics are designed for a particular brand, but many are universal. With universal phone cases, belt clips and holsters, mounts, connectors, power supplies, and headsets it's possible to replace electronics with different brands without having to replace the accessories. And peel and stick blings go anywhere!
The challenges of living in the 21st century are different than those Abe Lincoln faced in the 19th. Consumer electronics help the people of today rise to these challenges, and accessories make it even easier.

Advantage css of web design

Generally authors or editors of contents, especially of textual contents, in a website are from literary background. The technical aspects of Content Management Systems are often beyond reach of them. Yet professionally they cannot avoid manipulating those systems.
Addition of CSS into the functionalities of those systems has enhanced their degree of flexibility. Consequently, submission of contents in specific form does not require knowledge or expertise of editing code written with CSS or HTML. Instead, scope of selecting parameters, viz, number of columns, presence of an image et cetera by contributor enables this system to get into desired layout. It occurs as the input of contributor passes into Content Management System and subsequently it is analyzed by program logic. The result of such analysis determines the process of applying classes and IDs to the HTML code. Finally, depending on the given number of combinations with respect to a chosen layout type, the result of analysis gives in styling and positioning contents in accordance with a pre-existing CSS. This feature seems very much advantageous with respect to maintenance and feasibility of projects for complex sites with multiple contributors.
Advantageous Features of CSS
1. It separates contents from layout. - Depending on different nominal parameters, it helps in publishing content in different layout. This feature results in varied presentation of a single content in varying formats on different nominal parameters. Some of the nominal parameters are the followings:

  • web browsers
  • the display of device which can be monitor of a computer or that of a handheld mobile device
  • location of a user
2. It offers consistency all over the website. - This feature is feasible due to use of global style sheet. When changes all over the site are inevitable, it can be adjusted just by simple editing in few requisite rules in global style sheet.
3. It occupies less portion of bandwidth. - In comparison to HTML documents with nested tables governing layout, CSS results in smaller files. The style sheets are usually stored in browser cache. Thus it is applicable in multiple pages and needs no reloading. Hence it occupies smaller portion of bandwidth with respect to its reduced data transfer over the internet.
4. It is easy for editing formats. - The same page can use different style sheet just by simple change of single line in coding. This feature helps tailoring a page or site in different display devices. The target devices have no need at all to follow the styling to display the content.

Apple unveils iPhone 4, iOS 4 at Worldwide Developers Conference 2010

Yesterday, at this year's Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), company CEO Steve Jobs unveiled iPhone 4, along with the new iOS 4 operating system for Apple mobile devices.
The announcement was long-awaited but not a very big surprise. In April, the technology blog Gizmodo obtained a prototype of the new phone and published details of it online. While introducing iPhone 4, at the annual conference, Jobs started by hinting at the incident, saying, "Stop me if you've already seen this."
The new iPhone was praised by Jobs as "the biggest leap we've taken since the original iPhone." It is only 9.3 millimetres (0.37 inches) thick, making it "the thinnest smartphone on the planet", a 24 percent reduction from Apple's previous model, the iPhone 3GS. Structure-wise, iPhone 4 has a new stainless steel frame, which acts as an antenna, supposedly boosting its signal reception abilities and possibly reducing the amount of dropped calls. It also has a new screen, dubbed a "retina display," which displays images at 326 pixels per inch. During the keynote, Jobs demoed the device's new internal gyroscope as well. Even though it now uses Apple's faster A4 processor (first used in its iPad tablet), iPhone 4 has a claimed seven hours of 3G talk time, up two hours from the 3GS.
In addition to its design features, Jobs showed off iPhone 4's new video calling abilities. This feature is called FaceTime, and connects with other iPhone 4s via Wi-Fi. The phone has two cameras: one on the front for video chats, and one on the back for taking pictures and other videos. The rear camera has a resolution of five megapixels, is capable of recording high-definition video, and has an LED flash.
The iPhone 4 will use Apple's latest mobile operating system, iOS 4. Formerly "iPhone OS," iOS 4 was first introduced by Apple in April, and includes multitasking capabilities. Jobs called the new software "the most advanced mobile operating system in the world." iOS will support Apple's new mobile advertising service, iAd, which goes live on July 1.
iPhone 4 will be available on June 24 in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan. It comes in two colors—black and white—and two storage capacities. The 16GB version is priced at US$199 and the 32GB version at US$299. The iPhone 3GS's price will be reduced to US$99, and the iPhone 3G will be discontinued. iOS will be available as a free software update to users of compatible older Apple devices (including the 3GS) on June 21. In the U.S., iPhone 4 will only be available on AT&T's cellular network, despite calls for Apple to let the iPhone be used on other carriers, such as Verizon.
Competition-wise, the BlackBerry mobile device is still the most popular smartphone right now. Apple is also facing some serious competition from web giant Google's Android operating system, as well as Palm's webOS. Earlier this year, Android phones managed to outsell iPhones. iPhone users, however, account for over half of those surfing the Internet on a mobile browser in the U.S. Jobs also noted that over five billion iOS applications, commonly called "apps," have been purchased from Apple's App Store. The App Store currently has around 225,000 different apps for sale.
