Nokia C6 will be sold in Canada by Fido for $275 sans contract

Fido is soon going to launch the Nokia C6. No, not that one, but its slightly older brother. To be absolutely accurate, we must say that we're talking about the Nokia C6-00 here, and not the C6-01. Thank Nokia for its sometimes baffling naming scheme.

Anyway, the Nokia C6 runs Symbian^1, a.k.a. S60 5th Edition, a.k.a. the version of Symbian that won't get the fabled new UI that's coming sometime this summer. So this phone isn't quite future proof, from a software standpoint at least.

It is, however, a perfectly decent device for someone who hasn't used a smartphone before, or has, for some reason, been a Nokia user in the past (no matter how rare that occurrence might be anywhere in North America). The Nokia C6 has a 3.2-inch 360×640 resistive touchscreen, a side-sliding full physical QWERTY keyboard, a 434 MHz ARM11 processor, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and VGA (640×480) video recording, GPS, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 240 MB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot.

NOKIA E7

Call it Nokia's last big launch on the Symbian Plateform--the E7 will be pushed as a worthy successor to the popular Communicator. While it resembles the N8, the E7 comes with a well spaced, slide-out QWERTY keypad. It has a 4-inch capacitive display for enhanced outdoor visibility and better contrast. It will also offer easy access to emails, create and edit documents and capture high resolution images and HD videos. And like the N8, it will support the USB-on-the-Go feature enabling easy file sharing by connecting a USB stick to the smart phone.

Nokia E6-00 leaked

There is a new Nokia E6-00 smartphone that is just waiting to be unleashed upon the masses, but so far it has been held back – fret not, we have managed to catch it in a leak, so that you will also be able to lay your eyes on this new, candybar-style smartphone. Of course, taking on the candybar form factor would mean a full QWERTY keyboard, not to mention a VGA resolution touchscreen display that is accompanied by an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, a front-facing camera for video call purposes as well as a special version of the Symbian operating system which will play nice with the device's 4:3 display aspect ratio. VGA resolution in this day and age isn't too phat at all, so hopefully that will be different upon its launch.

Nokia E6-00 leaks again with a bang, images and video galore

The Nokia E6-00 has come out of the shadows yet again in another of its typical monthly leaks. If you remember, it was first hinted in a leaked Nokia XML file, then a month later some photos of the device emerged. And finally, a couple of weeks ago, a new photo of the E6 was revealed with the phone sporting a classy black look.

This time though, the Nokia E6-00 pays a much bigger visit to the masses. Instead of being shy, showing only a couple of images, a member of the Nokioteca Forums got his hands on it and got the unannounced Nokia candybar for a test drive.

Not only did he take clear photos of the white Nokia E6, but he also made a couple of software tour videos along with camera samples.

All this means that now several things are confirmed. First, the Nokia E6-00 features an 8 megapixel dual-led flash EDoF camera, capable of 720p video recording, which, as you'll see, looks really decent. Also, the OS is a special version of the Symbian^3 adapted for 4:3 aspect ratio screens.

Here are the hands-on images of the white Nokia E6-00 candybar.

As you can see, not only does the E6 look good in white, but also it sports a front VGA camera. The screen is what appears to be a 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 640x480 pixels.

The 8MP snapper at the back of the E6 does a good job - it shoots 720p HD video and takes somewhat decent photos. Keep in mind that the device probably packs early pre-production hardware and software, so the quality of the video and images is not final.

Now that's is more like it. After launching a few phones from the E-series with honestly terrible cameras, Nokia is back on track with this one. Let's hope the quality of the camera will be even better once the device is released.

Finally, here are the three Symbian^3 tour videos. Don't get too excited though, as they are really blurry and not too revealing. Nevertheless, take a look at them, but don't try too hard to read what's on the screen, because your eyes will hurt.

There's no word from Nokia about neither a release timeframe for the E6-00, nor how much it'll cost. What we do know is that we can definitely expect it to come out in white and classy black.

Bell Nokia C6-01 will be free with 3-year contract, launches tomorrow

In Canada, Bell will officially launch the Nokia C6-01 tomorrow. We've known that this will happen for almost three weeks now. We've also known that Bell will ask $279.95 of your hard earned cash if you want to get the C6-01 without a contract.

The rest of the pricing for this smartphone wasn't however known until now. If you get the Nokia C6-01 from Bell with a new three-year contract, the handset will be given to you for free. This, in pure Canadian tradition, is by far the best offer – if you're going to get a contract, this is the most advantageous from the perspective of how much you'll need to shell out for the phone.

A two-year contract will get you the device for $229.95, and a one-year contract will let you buy the smartphone for $254.95.

All in all this is pretty decent pricing, then again this is a midrange device meant more to be the successor to the Nokia 5800 than anything else. The C6-01 runs Symbian^3 (‘new Symbian'), has a 3.2-inch 640×360 capacitive AMOLED touchscreen, an 8 MP camera (in fact, it will be the first device offered by Bell to have such a high-res camera) with dual LED flash and 720p HD video recording, Ovi Maps with free worldwide navigation, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, and will come with a 2 GB microSD card preinstalled.

Nokia T7-00 leaked in Ovi publisher tool

Nokia might be on the decline where their smartphone business is concerned, although the feature phone market is still largely dominated by them across many of the developing countries around the world. Well, we have another leak of an upcoming handset that might or might not fall under the feature phone segment, but we do know that it is known as the T7-00. No, this is not some sort of stealth Terminator phone that is set to take over mankind. What this mean is, Nokia is working on a new series after the X,C,E and N Series. How did we come across this leak? Well, it was spotted through the OVI Publisher tools, where said device was listed under the Symbian^3 devices segment, although that's about all that we know about it, so stay tuned for future developments.

T-Mobile Nokia Astound (C7) gets official, arrives on April 6 for $79.99, pre-orders start tomorrow

Exactly as anticipated by leaked information a few days ago, the Nokia C7 is headed to T-Mobile. In fact, the official acknowledgement by both the carrier and Nokia has been made, complete with press shots and news release. T-Mobile will sell the Nokia C7 rebranded as the T-Mobile Nokia Astound. 99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate). To get the phone at that price, you'll need to sign a new two-year contract with T-Mobile. Pre-orders for the Astound start tomorrow. If you don't mind Symbian, which, even in its latest incarnation that Nokia now likes to call ‘the new Symbian', but was previously known as Symbian^3, can be a bit hard to get used to for novice users, then the Astound delivers an astounding (excuse the pun) level of specs for the price.

Nokia E6-00 leaked – the first unofficial images

The images  and specs of the unannounced Nokia E6-00 have been leaked. It appears to be an updated version of the Nokia E71. The E6-00′s launch at the Mobile World Congress 2011 is set to overshadow a number of other Nokia launches, including the X7-00 and the N9.

From the little information that could be extracted at that moment I could only conclude that we are dealing with an 8 MP camera  with dual LED flash, front-facing videocall camera and runs Symbian^3.  The first unofficial image with Nokia E6-00 are not as we expected the phone to be. Instead of a generously sized touch screen we have a smaller version, which leaves room for a QWERTY-style keyboard found on the E71 and E72 models. It’s hard to say if the resolution is really the VGA previously announced, but the screen size and format does not exclude this possibility.

Windows Phone 7 on Nokia?

Nokia is reportedly close to Microsoft. Proximity of the two giants is certainly not without purpose, but was mentioned in order to see the possibility of instilling the Windows OS in the smartphone Nokia Phone 7.

This news comes from technology analyst and author of the menggawangi Eldar Murtazin Mobile-Review site. In his report, Eldar says if closeness Nokia-Microsoft has been going a month later.

Scoping they have pioneered are said not to make way for Microsoft's applications to support Symbian on Nokia. But more than that.

Namely see the possibility of embedded Windows 7 Phone running on Nokia hardware, thus quoted from Gadgetsteria, Monday (20/12/2010).

No mention is indeed the origin of the source of this Eldar. But the figure is believed to have Eldar long had a reputation as tech bloggers with qualified sources.

Nokia itself previously claimed to still want to concentrate to build embedded handsets and Symbian OS MeeGo as its future. As for Android, the Finnish vendor has been confirmed closed door meetings. But apparently not so with Windows Phone 7.
