Apple Pull out VLC Aplication from APP Store

If you ever haven’t downloaded VLC Media Player in your iPhone, iPod touch, or even iPad yet, then it’s as well late, as Apple has pulled it through the App Store. The app  breaking any rules which consists of functionality, however. The thing that ultimately made Apple take action was the GNU license it absolutely was released under.

Remi Denis-Courmount is among the main developers working upon VLC. In October a year ago he sent a copyright infringement recognize to Apple stating the company was violating the GNU Average man or woman License for VLC. Seems like strange that a developer doing VLC would do this kind of, but VLC is free software plus the license it is distributed under should be adhered to.

As Apple isn't going to allow free and open distribution, which VLC requires in any form requires, the GNU license had been being violated. Two months later along with Apple has finally reacted towards the infringement notice by getting rid of the app. The alternative was clearly unacceptable for the company and its made App Store environment.

Denis-Courmount reacted towards the removal via the VideoLAN internet site, stating:

At last, The apple company has removed VLC storage devices player from its use store. Thus the incompatibility between the GNU Majority of folks License and the AppStore terms of use is resolved – the particular hard way. This end should not have come to your surprise to anyone, assigned the precedents.

With VLC set to continue being distributed under the GNU General public License, and Apple continuing to use the App Store for a closed environment with software package DRM, it looks unlikely that VLC opportunity return to Apple devices.
